Hydrochloric Acid
Hydrochloric Acid 33% which belongs to the category of strong acids, is a colourless, clear liquid with a very pungent odor and is highly corrosive. This acid, as its name implies, is Chlorine-based and is a solution of Hydrogen Chloride, water and other additives such as Hydronium and chlorine ions. It is a monoprotic acid and in each reaction, each molecule can release only one chloride ion (Cl-) and one hydrogen ion (H+).
Hydrogen ions can react with water to produce Hydronium ions (H3O+). Chloride ions can also produce Sodium Chloride (NaCl) in response to compounds that contain sodium ions.
