Hematite Powder
Hematite is a high purity ground Iron Oxide (Ferric Oxide). It Used to increase the density of drilling fluids in Oilfield Drilling Applications. It can also be substituted or blended with barite in all types of mud systems. It is grinded to a Size Suitable for Drilling and Remove Impurities.
At OSS, Hematite is manufactured as per API 13 A specifications for usage in the Oil Drilling applications as a Weighting Material. Due to its high specific gravity muds Formulated using Hematite have low solid Content and improve the ROP as compared to Baryte based Muds.
Application:
Ground Hematite Powder can be used in all types of drilling fluids, including fresh water, sea water and oil-based muds. It helps increase density, control formation pressure and stabilize the bore hole and can be Mixed with Baryte to achieve the desired Density of the Drilling Muds
Common Name – Hematite, Iron Oxide
Advantages:
- It has a lower attrition rate than barite powder, being harder has less chances of particle size degradation.
- It improves rheological properties in muds.
- It provides higher rate of penetration.
- It is more resistant to particle size degradation and is more environmentally friendly than barite.
- Due to its higher Specific Gravity the Muds have lower Solid Content as compared to Baryte Muds.
